Actually Yeshua, you are a Jew. Because our Messiah is a Jew and by our faith and love in him we are grafted into the vine and made to be heirs to the promise of everlasting life. If we are grafted into Him, then we have the same access to the promise made to the Jews and we have the same rights as an citizen of Israel. So yes, I am a Christian/Jew. Since I have realized my faith in Messiah and since I realize what it meant to be grafted in to the vine. I have felt that my life has become complete.
The NT affirms that Jews and Gentiles have equal standing before God, are equally loved and equally redeemed, etc (Romans 10:12-13, Ephesians 2:13-14,17-22) and in Jesus Jew and Gentile are one, but that does not make Gentiles spiritual Jews. Paul comes close to saying this in Philippians 3:3 which is addressed to both Jewish and Gentile believers. Colossians 2:11 is addressed to Gentile believers. In Romans 11:17-18, Paul says that Gentile believers are grafted into Israel's olive tree. Corinthians 10:1, addressed to Gentile believers, calls the forefathers of Israel their forefathers. Similarly, check Galatians 3:28-29.
Despite all this, Paul never explicitly calls Gentile believers "spiritual Jews" or "spiritual Israel" and in the one place he could have made himself perfectly clear on the issue, Romans 9-11, he actually says *the opposite*, writing *to* the Gentile believers *about* Israel.
Throughout the passage, Paul continues to address those believers as Gentiles and is in fact one of the few times in the NT that they are explicitly addressed as such. The have not become spiritual Jews or spiritual Israelites. Rather, they have become joint heirs in the family of God, equally loved, equally called and equally saved. But they have *not* becomes spiritual Jews or spiritual Israelites.
Paul is clear on this: "Or is God the God of the Jews only? Isn't he also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, he is indeed the God of the Gentiles; because, as you will admit, God is one. Therefore, he will consider righteous the circumcised on the ground of trusting and the uncircumcised through that same trusting." (Romans 3:29-30) Yes, he is God of the Gentiles and the Jews, but Jews who don't believe don't becomes Gentiles and Gentiles who believe don't become Jews.
I am a relatively new member of the Messianic Movement. I am grateful for having been grafted into the vine despite the evil person I am/used to be. I'm glad to see I'm not alone on this website full of abominable and sinful creations. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Shalom.
Nice Unfortunately while the Messianics group did technically start, it never really went anywhere and hasn't been updated in quite a while... and the ID I made for it wasn't quite up to par for what my friend, who started it, wanted... oh well : / I'm a Messianic Gentile, by the way
